Mercyhurst College assistant professor of dance Christine Marie Hay '94 ('99 MFA) will debut original choreography this week in the Ballet Concerto production of "A Holiday Special," a Fort Worth December tradition, at Will Rogers Auditorium.
Hay, a frequent choreographer for Ballet Concerto productions, will present
"Princess and the Magical Christmas Star" at 10 a.m. on Dec. 6 and Dec. 7. The morning performances will be attended by about 5,000 students from Fort Worth Independent School District and surrounding areas as a field trip. It is open to the public as well.
Nightly performances will include a reenactment of the nativity in "O Holy Night" by Adolph Adam (composer of the music of ballet "Giselle") as well as a "Hannukah Flamenco." The Charles Duke Singers will join the dancers with caroling.
Ballet Concerto is guided under the artistic direction of Margo Dean and Webster Dean, well-known Fort Worth dance instructors.
Prior to teaching at Mercyhurst College in Erie, Pa., Hay spent two years as Ballet Mistress of the Orlando Ballet under the artistic direction of the late Fernando Bujones. Her professional career included performing as a member of Ballet West, Atlanta Ballet, Tampa Ballet and Louisville Ballet. She has been principal dancer for Ballet Concerto and featured dancer at Casa Manana Summer Musicals.
